Jim Miller’s Volunteerism for Kids:
• 30 year youth Soccer and Baseball Coach for the City of Leesburg’s Recreation Department (ongoing)
• 19 year Mentor for Take Stock in Children (ongoing)
• Board Member Emeritus Educational Foundation of Lake County, 23 years, and honored as the State Volunteer of the Year for the Consortium of Florida Educational Foundations in 2018-2019
• Executive Director of World Class Lake County, a Florida Chamber of Commerce led school reform project 1995-2002
• Introduced "Character Counts" program in Lake County; it is still being used by Fruitland Park and Lady Lake Elementary Schools
• Initiated (1st 5 years) "Jacket S.T.I.N.G." grade incentive program at Leesburg H.S.
• Jr. Achievement, very active for 3 years – resigned when son Bill was totally paralyzed after breaking his neck
• Leesburg High School Athletic Booster Club – President in '89/'90 & '90/'91
• "Man of the Year" – 1997 Boys & Girls Club of Lake & Sumter Counties
• 1988 recipient of the inaugural League of Cities Community Service Award for Sports/Recreation
• Active Rotarian & Kiwanian – past Civitan, three civic clubs that focus on helping kids in need.

• 2nd recipient of the George O. Pringle Award of the Leesburg Area Chamber of Commerce (George was the first)
• Member: East Lake, Eustis, Lady Lake, Leesburg, Mt. Dora, South Lake, Tavares & Umatilla Chambers of Commerce for 18 or more years
• 2015 President of the Chamber Alliance of Lake County
• 2005 President of the Leesburg Partnership, a Florida Main Street Program
• Chairman of the Leesburg Sesquicentennial Committee in 2007; President of the Leesburg Heritage Society 2016-18

Jim Miller’s Service on Lake County Government Boards and Committees:
• Vice Chair of Lake County’s Planning & Zoning Board – 1989-1992
• Chair of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee for Lake County’s Comprehensive Plan 1990-1991
• Lake County’s Impact Fee Committee – 2000-2008 – elected Vice Chair in 2008
• Lake County’s PLAAC – Public Lands Acquisition Advisory Committee – until it sunset in 2011
• Elected Board Member Lake County School Board District 1 from 2010-2012, appointed by Florida Education Commissioner, Gerard Robinson, as one of three businesspeople to the Florida 2.0 Digital Learning Group which included state legislators, superintendents, principals, and teachers from around the state. Jim Miller’s Work Experience:
• Worked in Illinois for Jewel Food Stores from 1964-1977 – bag boy to grocery manager
• Part-owner manager of PAL’S Foodway from 1977-1981 – became a permanent Lake County resident in 1977
• Commercial/Industrial Realtor for ERA, Tom Grizzard since 1981 (it is now ERA Grizzard Real Estate)
• Earned his Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation in 1986
• "Realtor of the Year" – 1990 Leesburg Board of Realtors
• Earned his Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) designation in 2007
• Ranked number one nationally in non-residential sales for ERA Associates in 2004, 2005, and 2007

Jim Miller, Personal:
Jim, 71, was a James Scholar at the University of Illinois. He has been married to his wife, Donna, for over 34 years. They’re proud of their two sons Andy 45 and Bill 43. They enjoy their 2 rescue dogs, Sprout and Tutu.
